Shelter Island Sunset Wedding | Real Weddings
The Inspiration
I had the pleasure of working with Robin and Connor on their wedding stationery. Robin reached out to me with a vision of incorporating aspects of their Shelter Island wedding venue within their invitation suite. Shelter Island has such a unique geography and you can only arrive to the island via a ferry — these were two aspects that were especially important to Robin and Connor to incorporate in their wedding stationery. They didn’t have specific wedding colors but were inspired by the beautiful island sunset and were planning on incorporating that into their decor.
With that in mind, I got to designing. Using watercolor elements to bring that whimsical look to their invitation suite, I illustrated the ferry and waterscape right onto their invitation. The unique Shelter Island geometry was incorporated onto their details card, that gave their guests all the information about how to get to their unique wedding venue. And of course I had to bring in those sunset colors with dusty blues, dusty pinks, and peachy oranges.
For their wedding day stationery, Robin and Connor wanted to incorporate some of those same elements from their invitation suite to their seating chart and table numbers. I used a pared down version of the ferry illustration on their table numbers and used the abstract watercolor elements from their belly band and RSVP card on their seating chart to really bring a cohesive element to all their wedding stationery.
I am in love with how it all turned out and I wish Robin and Connor the best as they begin their married life together!
